SYNOPSIS

They say everything comes in threes. Here’s three rib tickling tales featuring three characters in three very different time periods and situations.

Kelly’s Full House is a great short story collection that will lift your spirits and help get you through your day by dealing with some of the most taboo subjects – The Press, death and politics.

1. 127 Alden Road

It’s July 1st, 2017 in Provincetown Massachusetts, original landing place of the Pilgrims. Abigail Helmsworth, town librarian and charter member of the Ladies of New England Social Organization for Massachusetts History, (LONESOME’s for short), is doing some spring cleaning in the Herman Melville Memorial Library when she comes across a document. A document from 1775. A document apparently signed by the Big Man himself – George Washington!

The possible implications of this document are not at all lost on the town’s 2,427 residents. In just under three days 60,000 tourists will invade this Mecca of U.S. history to celebrate the Fourth of July. The document, if certified to be authentic, could mean tens of thousands in revenue for the tiny hamlet.

2. Dr. Lindsay’s Christmas

At 87 years of age Dr. Jonathan Lindsay, a Dublin native, dedicated pediatrician and devout Catholic his entire life, has just lost his wife of over sixty years and, for the first time finds himself alone on Christmas Eve, 1987.

Reluctant to return to an empty house he takes a stroll up O’Connell Street to enjoy the gaily decorated holiday ornaments, lights and displays.

3. Luck & Fame Are Four Letter Words

A new president has taken the reins, the Space Race is in full swing and the economy is at its peak since end of the war. It’s 1961 and the future looks bright.

However the entire country is not running on greased groves. Rank Publishing Ltd., in New York City is hanging on by a thread. With the advent of automated printing, a television in nearly every home and newspaper circulation up almost tenfold since the end of the war, news stories are cheaper and more readily available. The new sensation is supermarket tabloids and magazine circulation is plummeting!

Luck & Fame examines the roll luck and hype play in achieving fame because, no matter how much talent you may have, Luck and Fame are Four Letter Words.

SYNOPSIS

Tidal Effects is the sequel to Gray Tide in the East, the popular alternate history of the First World War. In Gray Tide, the Germans cancel their planned invasion of Belgium in 1914, turning their armies eastward to crush Russia without interference from Great Britain or the United States. Tidal Effects picks up the story in 1923. In High Tide, the U.S. discovers that Germany is building a secret naval base on Martinique, which they acquired from France as part of the peace settlement in 1915. It is a clear challenge to U.S. control of the Western Hemisphere, but how will the isolationist, pacifism-minded American respond when the Kaiser escalates the situation to the brink of war?

In the second story, Austria-Hungary is under the thumb of its powerful neighbor, and Emperor Charles would like to find new diplomatic partners and free his country from German domination. He calls in an American newspaperman to secretly sound out allies for a new treaty organization to meet the German threat. Meanwhile the Kaiser’s agent “Wolf” is working to undermine the Dual Monarchy, by encouraging a revolution in Hungarian that will allow Germany to gobble up the new territory won by Austria in the war. Tidal Effects offers two stories filled with action, political maneuvering, treachery, spies and surprises.

SYNOPSIS

August 1, 1914, Berlin: Kaiser Wilhelm II cancels the German invasion of Belgium over the objections of his generals, sending his armies East against Russia instead of West to France, and sets off a chain of events that will radically change the course of modern history.

Gray Tide in the East is the best-selling counterfactual history of the First World War, if the Germans had not invaded Belgium in 1914 and thereby brought Great Britain and, eventually, the United States into the war. The carefully researched story is told by a host of real historical figures both famous (William Jennings Bryan, Winston Churchill) and obscure (Albert Dawson, Joost van Vollenhoven) and spans the globe from Washington, D.C. to Hanoi, from bloody battlefields to the secret chambers of diplomats.

AMAZON reviews for the 1st Edition:

A superbly written alternate history without aimless fantasy, but rather a meticulously researched, and completely plausible chain of events.

Highly recommended to history lovers to exercise the mind.

A great work of counter factual history. The author knows how to tell a good story. Highly recommended.

This is a well written and believable alternate history book.

SYNOPSIS

Through shear dint of effort, Ronald Lump the third, now in his fourth and last term as president, had with tireless campaigning and unprecedented cooperation in both the House and the Senate, been able to whittle away at the 3% who controlled 97% of the wealth. He got it down to 1%. Worse yet, of the 47 candidates who intend to run for office to replace him none are qualified.

America was in trouble. Again.

However it is in Central Middleville, Ohio, a place where everyday life is abnormally normal, there resides a real hero. A human cog in a soulless system whose only dream is to get out of the dingy one room apartment he's lived in all his life. A savior that can possibly deliver the American people from the shackles of the two party system and the havoc it has reeked on the American landscape for so long.

Thaddeus Enoch Pervers, a lowly assembly line worker unintentionally sets out on a political adventure the likes of which could only happen in the U.S. With political absurdities unimagined in Swift’s time Thaddeus, after accidently filing out the wrong form at his local Department of Motor Vehicles, mistakenly winds up sucked up into the convoluted American political system.

Politics was never in Thaddeus' plans, but it was in his destiny. Inadvertently tossed into the political arena due to the misfiled form, Pervers is discovered by a devious group of supercentenarians who promise to buy him a senate seat if he'll act as their front man for their political interests.

The novel American Rhetoric, a dark parody of the two party system, offers a glimpse of one possible future for The United States of America.

*Politics. From the Greek 'poly' meaning many and 'tics' meaning a parasitic, blood sucking leech who lives off others.

SYNOPSIS

A four-year war has raged across the colonised worlds of The Extent. Nations reel from violence and betrayal and the Skean Republic stands alone. Despite fierce diplomatic negotiations, tensions rise while, bordering the huge region of empty space known as The Abyssal Void, the conflict threatens the nation of Akatsu.

A young, wealthy socialite and ex-assassin has grown up on Hiroshi and now lives in the famed floating city of Yori. Working for Akatsu's secretive science team, Kagaku-sha Chimu, she strives to save her planet from the hated United Colonial Systems. Accompanied by the loyal, catlike Jira, she plays a dangerous game in which her friends and her city are the potential collateral. The very future of her world is at stake.

In the middle of the Abyssal Void, at Port McKinley, Acting Captain Kurt Bergstrom is about to graduate. Young and inexperienced, he has little idea the Akatsu are preparing to strike or of the bitter price he, his friends and his family will have to pay. It will be a baptism of fire, engulfing the stars, destroying his humanity and forging him into a weapon his enemies will not soon forget.

The first of a trilogy, "Stars, Hide Your Fires" will take you to the stars: an alternate future, a galaxy collapsing into war and humans doing what humans do best.

SYNOPSIS

David Malone’s special skill of going through mirrors to find people enabled him to rescue the First Lady when she was kidnapped by an unknown group bent on starting a war with China. That sinister group is back with plan B. This time, however, they are making sure that David can’t derail their evil plans. Their first step as they move to put their new plan into action is to kidnap David and lock him away under twenty-four hour guard someplace where there are no mirrors and no shiny surfaces.

What they didn’t realize was that David was not alone when they struck. He was mirror walking with Chi, his protégée, so that they could watch a movie together in his living room. She manages to make contact with “Warrior Robert”– Detective Robert Nash– and tell him that “Beloved” has been taken.

Chi and her grandmother, Kong Ling, come to Iowa to help find David, but the war plotters somehow know of their involvement and try to kill them as they arrive. From that point on, Detective Robert, Momma Ling, Chi, and one of Robert’s fellow officers, Sargent Lucy Garcia, must go underground as they attempt to rescue Beloved and once again save the world from what could possibly be the beginning of World War Three.

      • An Awesome read. The story is engrossing and the characters are very
real. The various locations in which the story is set are wonderfully
described. 5 out of 5 (Brendon)
      • This book is a great read. The author has done a great deal of
research to create a most engaging story. The characters are so very
real that you can really understand their thinking. There are many
unexpected twists and turns. I like the way he mentions a fact
unobtrusively early in the story which has unexpected and huge
repercussions later on. 5 out of 5 (Neva)

SYNOPSIS

On January 12th, 1912 at 12 noon, 57,000 European immigrants comprised of 25 nationalities, 45 languages, (less than 10% of which spoke English), struck against one of the richest men in the world. To add to the drama, they faced a hostile governor and U. S. president, a racially motivated police force backed by the U. S. Army and the worst New England Winter on record.

Against a backdrop of wars raging in the Far East, The Balkans and North Africa, the most hotly contested U. S. election to date and unprecedented, government sponsored violence, a no-holds-barred industrial strike was launched.

In Book II of Paddy Kelly's series Building of Empire: Crime & Politics, the Cornerstone of America, the epic drama of a forgotten story in U. S. history, its Class Wars, is told through a neglected chapter, the Lawrence Mill Strike of 1912.

With the ambience and intensity of Reds and the spirit of Cabaret the story of the largest industrial action of its time, The American Way chronicles the drama of people swept up in events larger than themselves as they refused to capitulate to some of the most powerful men on the face of the planet.

The American Way is the true story of what European immigrants endured in burgeoning industrial America. Played out in seven weeks, in the dead of the worst New England winter in half a century, the story of this historic struggle invites you to come to America, land of the free. Home of the brave.

Where the streets are paved with blood.

SYNOPSIS

David Malone is a private detective with a unique specialty–he can find anyone, anywhere in the world providing he has a picture of them, he knows their name, and they are near a mirror. They have to be near a mirror because he finds them by staring into the special mirror on his bedroom wall and coming out near them as a mirror walker.

No one believes that David actually finds people in his mirror, but when First Lady Helena Travis is kidnaped– apparently by the Chinese– Secret Service Agent Mark Nash seeks out the nutjob that his brother, Detective Robert Nash, swears can find people, living or dead, no matter where they are.

The kidnappers, who have made it look like the Chinese are behind the kidnaping, are sure that President Douglas Travis is crazy enough to send the missiles to China just because his wife was missing. So, finding her is not just a matter of rescuing the President’s wife. Returning her to Washington is the only way to avert World War Three.

Agent Nash tells David, “Every US agency on earth is on full alert and looking for anything, anywhere, no matter how off the wall, that might help us find her. But they are coming up empty. You are more of a ‘Hail, Mary’ pass in the last two seconds of the game.”

Sometimes those last second passes score the winning touchdown.

Angus knows only too well that the sixties gave the women liberation.

SYNOPSIS

Only two things in this life have ever managed to get right up my nose. The first being civilians, because they don’t have a clue. The second, those useless wankers in the SAS who’s only aim in life is to get on telly and have their picture flashed all over the world in a balaclava that’s been spruced up in their boyfriend’s Fairy Liquid.

My mob, we do what needs to be done and keep our mouths shut and our heads down. Most folks don’t know that we exist. We stay in the background, unseen and unreported and that’s the way we like it.

Anyway, what I’m telling you from here on in isn’t about the past or any of that, well, some of it is but mostly it’s about what’s going down right this instant and it is not pleasant. Trust me the shit just hit the fan.

      • Wow! Reading this book is like watching a firework display! There is
        bang! fizz! Crack! pop!
The bangs are the ideas. There is quite a lot of what sounds like
technical language but also there is a constant thudding heart beat of
creativity and innovation. There are Werewolves, Vampires and even
        Dracula!
The fizz is the writing which is concise, pacey and tight. There is no
        dragging or lagging or waste.
The crack is the action which is frantic, exciting and sometimes
rather scary. Rather like a comic strip.
The pop is the coherence and togetherness of it all.
This book is such a breath of fresh air. Sometimes it overwhelmed me!

The only small criticism I have is that I would have liked more about
the characters, but perhaps this will come in the next edition...?

SYNOPSIS

‘You have come from Earth on a mission. A mission that is to determine the future of human enterprise on Mars … On this new world the slate will be wiped clean and ready to accept the message of Christ, though that message may have to be written in fire!’

That was The General’s message to his followers. The message of a man who, through secret political and commercial backing on Earth was set to exploit the planet and with its profits fulfil a hidden agenda - to establish his new kingdom whatever the cost in human life.

But the life forms that had existed there for so long unknown had very different ideas. When their secret domains were threatened they at last spoke to Brett, the only man who would listen. The only man who would act.

‘We are of this planet … we are of the realms beneath the deserts, beneath the mountains and the canyons. If humans strike into our world, we will pass through space-time beyond the realms you know and cause great changes within your world. We will re-awaken the ancient volcanoes. We will stir the furnace beneath Olympus. We will open the gates of Ascraeus, Pavonis and Arsia. The darkness of the volcanoes will fall upon this world as it did in the distant beginning. The sun will not rise. The biodomes that sustain your lives will die. For humans there will be no dawn.’

As I sat there I knew damn well they meant it. It was why they had shown me the vision. Through them I had witnessed our day of judgement!

Brett holds the key to the survival of humanity on Mars. As disaster and death visit the colonies, as danger closes in upon himself and Karin, his female companion, this becomes a race for life against a determined and fanatical man - and the native beings who await the outcome.

This drama unfolds in space and amidst the vast mountains and canyons of the Red Planet.
